Hind Adnan

Since her graduation from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo and for twenty years Hind Adnan has been exhibiting her works in Arab and Western capitals. The history of painting the female body dates back to the beginnings of art itself, yet the female bodies of Hind Adnan’s paintings take on new forms and new meanings. Her sleeping beings in their dreaming worlds are seen from above from an eagle’s eye amidst their contemplations, restfully sitting after a nap of tiredness. We have a glimpse of their feminine beauty but are more seduced by their emotions as they discover forgotten moments. Adnan brings attention to neglected corners, using the main elements of artistic structure skilfully: light versus shade, mass versus vacuum, shades of colour side by side that reflect the artist’s technical mastery.
