Sarwat El Bahr

One of the most accomplished painters in Egypt, Sarwat El Bahr has had nearly thirty one-man exhibitions throughout Egypt, Italy, and Germany. El Bahr is also active as a critic, curator, and cultural commissioner who founded the Fekrun Wa Fann Gallery at Alexandria’s Goethe Institute. In his earlier years, El Bahr experimented with painting the pyramids of Egypt with a distinctive style of his own. In his recent work, he explores the relationship between pre-and post-revolutionary Egypt, its transformation, and the importance of artists in this change.
