As one of the most established and recognized contemporary artists in Egypt, Mohamed Abla is a painter, sculptor, engraver, and installation artist with a focus on graphics and oil painting. He is a modern artist who combines techniques such as lithography with canvas paintings, photography with newspaper cutouts, all against a backdrop of heavily relevant political and social commentary. In his oil paintings, his unique brush techniques suggest action even when his characters are inactive. Occasionally branching into mix medium pieces, he layers unique use of color on top of printed backgrounds, faded photographs and even newspaper clippings.
